Czech Republic: open workshops in June
- Personal note -
This type of event provides access to workshops that are not always open to the public.
In a format concentrated over a few days, it offers direct immersion in practices that are often not very visible outside of these occasions.
Introduction
On June 13 and 14, 2026, the Hradec Králové region will host the Dny otevřených ateliérů (Open Studio Days). Over a weekend, artists, artisans, and creators will open their workspaces to the public, offering direct access to their practices.
A launch is also planned for June 12, 2026, in Josefov, as part of the event.
Direct access to studios and practices
During these days, visitors can discover a wide variety of disciplines:
- traditional crafts
- contemporary creation
- design
- visual arts
Participating studios open their doors to allow direct observation of techniques and working environments.
Observe manufacturing processes
The event emphasizes understanding the manufacturing steps.
Beyond finished objects, it is the processes, materials, and methods that are made visible.
This approach allows for a better understanding of objects within their production context.
A regional anchoring, with a cross-border opening
Organized at the scale of the Královéhradecký kraj, the event is part of a local dynamic, while also integrating an opening to participants from Poland.
This cross-border dimension reflects a reality specific to certain regions of Central Europe, where artisanal practices circulate beyond administrative borders.
An initiative open to artisans and creators
The event is based on an open call for participation to artisans, artists, designers, workshops, associations, and galleries.
This format allows for the renewal of participants from one edition to the next, while maintaining a diversity of practices represented.
Perspective
While this event takes place in the northeast of Czechia, other regions of the country — particularly in Moravia — also host artisanal practices rooted in local traditions.
Without direct connection to this event, these territories nevertheless contribute to a broader artisanal diversity, found at different scales across the country.
